Imaginative imaging

We use cutting-edge molecular detection and imaging methods to study the 3D biogeography of infections. Images throughout the site take advantage of the following methods.

MiPACT is a tissue clearing method developed by Dr. Jorth's colleagues at Caltech. It allows us to image thick specimens containing bacteria.

mRNA-HCR is a modified multi-step FISH method that uses DNA probes to detect rare mRNAs with an amplified fluorescent signal.
